Enhanced Oil Recovery – Securing the future
As
we all know, oil resreves world over are fast depleting.
With the current rate of consumption the oil reserves
will last for only another 40 years. Global companies
and scientists are engaged in devising new ways
to sustain the available quantities of oil. Enhanced
oil recovery is one of these techniques, that holds
the key to future supply of oil. It deals with effective
extraction of oil from the existing wells. If EOR
is implemented across the world extensively, the
crude oil extract rates go upto 60% which means
we can extend the current shelf life of the remaining
oil from 46 years to 138 years.
EOR makes use of microbial injection, chemical injection,
gas injection and thermal methods for effective
extraction. All the above techniques have their
own procedures, advantages and disadvantages.
Enhanced Oil Recovery Conference 2012 organized
by Fleming Gulf Conferences will shed more light
on the EOR concept and related topics. Market leaders
and innovators from across the globe will come to
gather and share knowledge on EOR. The conference
will take place on 27-28 March 2012, in Park Rotana,
Abu Dhabi. Key highlights of the conference include
panel discussions, case studies, presentations and
a chance to interact with professionals from the
same field. Some of the key speakers include Dr.
Wasif Alam from Ministry of Health-Qatar, Samy Serag
El Din from ADCO, Haq Minhas from Petronas Carigali,
